Michio Kaku describes not only why pretty soon we will need to develop post silicon chip but also why development of nanotechnology and high-temperature superconductors can change so drastically our future. All the theories and assumptions are based on travels to major scientific laboratories around the world. Though Michio like to compare ppl in 2100 to mythical gods with ability to elongate life and make it easier by incorporating chip in almost every piece of furniture he is aware of barbarity hidden deep inside human nature which may lead to even apocalypse in worst case. Definitely worth reading if you want to know how scientists changing our future right now.
